MoRA awards 45 at Khatam Al-Quran meet

THE Ministry of Religious Affairs awarded trophies, certificates of appreciation and cash to 45 pupils under the Khatam Al-Quran Incentive Scheme for students who have completed all 30 juz (chapters) of the Quran before reaching the age of 10 yesterday.
Islamic Studies Department Acting Director Hjh Rusita Hj Yahya said there were 166 pupils participating in the scheme, but only 45 of them were selected for the final of the Quran Tasmik Round early this year.
Five pupils from various religious schools in the Sultanate were awarded trophies, certificates and $1,000 each, she said.
Ahmad Huzaifah Hj Hasbi, from the Lambak Kanan Dato Basir Religious School, bagged first place in the overall result of the scheme by achieving a 93.5 per cent result.
Md Izzat Darwish Mursidi from the Pengiran Anak Puteri Hjh Masna Lambak Kanan Religious School and Md Wafii Syafiq Hj Mosliadi from Lambak Kiri Dato Othman Religious School won second and third respectively.
The fourth and fifth places were awarded to Md Jihadul Haq Najhe of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Religious School and Md Abdul Haiman Toneey from Pengiran Anak Puteri Azimah Nikmatul Bolkiah Religious School.
Hjh Rusita said three judges from the department selected the winners from various religious and Arabic schools across the Sultanate based on articulation, voice and application of the rules of recitations.
The recipients received their awards from the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pg Dato Paduka Hj Bahrom Pg Hj Bahar, at the Royal Brunei Recreational Club, Brunei International Airport, yesterday.
Pg Dato Hj Bahrom said the objective of the annual scheme was to encourage more youth to read Quran verses with the correct pronunciation and articulation.
“This annual scheme has been going on for 24 years… I hope this scheme would be an incentive for more young people to know the benefits of reading the Quran perfectly,” he said.

Institut Tahfiz offers diploma programme

INSTITUT Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) is calling for applications for its Aliyah Qiraat Diploma Programme.
The course is open to all Muslim residents and citizens of Brunei who have obtained ‘jayyid’ (good) grades in at least four subjects in the Brunei Religious Education Certificate (SPUB) or a minimum of four credits in the O-levels including Malay Language and Arabic Language.
Applicants must also pass the admission interview and declared to be in good health by an accredited public health centre. Foreign nationals can apply by submitting a written request to the chairman of the board of ITQSHHB.
Application forms are available at the Administrative Office of ITQSHHB. Applications can be made until March 24.

Nationwide Religious Programme concludes

ARABIC and Religious schools around the country yesterday held aProgram Keagamaan Senegara (PKS)or Nationwide Religious Programmefor the month of February.
The monthly programme is part of the Islamic Education Department’s Strategic Plan 2010-2014 (Rancangan Strategik Jabatan Pengajian Islam 2010-2014).
Leading the programme in Brunei-Muara was the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School .
The programme started with a Tazkirah (Religious talk) on the benefits of ablution (wudhu) by Nuriwani Hidayah.
This was followed by a mass recitation of Surah Yaasin by Abdul Mukmin.
The event ended with a recitation of the “Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.”
Other schools that participated in the programme yesterday included the Sengkarai Religious School in Tutong, the Sungai Tali Lumut Religious School in Belait and the Pengiran Muda Muhamed Bolkiah Religious School in Temburong.
Leading next month’s programme which will focus on Tazkirah on cleanliness will be the Mahad Islam School, located in Tutong.

Membaca Ratib Al-Attas Banyak Fadilat Dan Hikmah

TEMBURONG, Isnin, 12 Januari. - Ratib Al-Attas mendatangkan banyak faedah bagi setiap umat Islam yang mengamalkannya antaranya dipelihara oleh Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala daripada terkena sihir serta terlindung daripada penyakit dan bala.
Faedah Ratib Al-Attas itu didedahkan dalam tazkirah sempena Program Keugamaan Senegara Bagi Bulan Januari 1436 Hijrah/2015 Masihi yang diadakan di seluruh sekolah-sekolah agama dan Arab di seluruh negara termasuklah di daerah ini.
Tazkirah juga menjelaskan bahawa jika ada perkara mustahak maka ratib hendaklah dibacakan sebanyak 40 kali dalam suatu majlis, iaitu dengan menghimpunkan jemaah yang tidak kurang daripada 40 orang untuk membaca bersama sama ada pada waktu malam selepas waktu Maghrib atau Isyak, namun boleh juga dibaca waktu siang.
Lebih 200 murid dan tenaga pengajar di Sekolah Ugama Bokok, Mukim Bokok menyertai program anjuran Jabatan Pengajian Islam, Kementerian Hal Ehwal Ugama itu yang antara lain mempunyai matlamat untuk memupuk minat murid-murid membaca Ratib Al-Attas khas bagi memohon hajat kesejahteraan hidup di dunia dan  akhirat.

Dengan memfokuskan pembacaan Ratib Al-Attas, program juga mempunyai matlamat untuk memberi keyakinan kepada murid-murid bahawa setiap usaha yang dilakukan hendaklah dengan membanyakkan doa dan berserah kepada qada dan qadar Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala.
Program seumpama itu juga sebagai galakan kepada murid-murid supaya rajin berzikir kepada Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala dan mengingati-Nya.
Membaca Ratib Al-Attas sememangnya mempunyai banyak fadilat dan hikmah iaitu dapat membawa keamanan dan keselamatan bagi rumah tangga dan penghuninya daripada kebakaran, kecurian dan sebagainya.
