New religious school wing promises more convenience

RESIDENTS of Kg Lambak and its vicinity will have more opportunities to send their children to the Sekolah Ugama Jalan Bedil as a foundation for its new block was officially laid next to the school’s old building yesterday.

Present to lay the foundation was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Haji Abdul Rahman.

 

In an interview with The Brunei Times, Matzainin Hj Bakar, architect under the Building and Maintenance Section of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) said the new building costing close to $4.15 million will have a total of 18 classes that can accommodate 450 students as an addition to 270 students at the old building.


He explained that the new block will house an administrative building which can accommodate 80 teachers, a conference room that can accommodate 40 people, a multipurpose hall that can fit 500 people and a library for 50 people as well as a total of 40 parking lots.

The new building, which was contracted to Farina Ninjaya Sdn Bhd is expected to finish by March 15, 2016, however the earliest date for its completion is also expected to be sometime around December next year. Matzainin said once the building is completed, residents from Kg Rimba and Kg Terunjing, aside from Kg Lambak and its vicinity would then be able to enrol their children at the school for their convenience.

The principal of the Sekolah Ugama Jalan Bedil, Dk Hjh Jurinah Pg Hj Sabtu expressed her hopes that the new building will be able to provide a more comfortable and effective learning environment for the students. “With the new building to be completed soon, hopefully members of the school including its students and teachers would be able to conduct and carry out their duties and learning processes better, and to benefit from it well,” said the principal.
